McGregor House
A classic gabled house with elements of lodge, alpine chalet and the NZ bungalow. Envisaged as a comfortable all year round home for two people but with generous living and guest areas for immediate family and friends.
A rich warm palette of materials utilising natural finishing materials such as schist stone, stained timber, honed sandstone, macrocarpa, pine plywood and salvaged materials. These consist of large section Australian hardwood beams salvaged from early bridges. They are used as posts to hold up the main house ridge, pergola and verandah posts. All timber work is traditionally crafted with housed joints and carefully detailed steel connections.
